Cue the trumpets! August 13, 2008

Dun-dun-dun-done!

P8120146

Pattern:  Smockie (Ravel it!)
Yarn: Madil Eden, less than 3 balls
Needles: US 4 for the skirt (KP Harmony), US 3 for the bodice (Addi turbo)
Size: 3-6 months
Mods: Ooh boy. I knit this one in the round instead of seaming. I also said screw it to their fancy edging, and used a little bit of Cro-Kay (i.e. pick up two stitches, bind off, pick up and bind off continue to end).

The buttons are the leftovers from Ladybug’s Reid cardigan.

I compared it size-wise to one of Pigeon’s 0-3 month dresses, and it is wider, so it really should be a size 3-6 month.  How fortuitous!

Changing the subject – does anyone know what kind of plant this is?

Is this a weed?

It’s very tall and has little red flower like things on that center fluffy part.  These things appeared this summer in the side flower bed, and I just want to know if they were intentional.

    1. Woo HOO! That’s verra cute. Wanna see a sweet widdle Pidgy in it!!

    2. I have no earthly idea. Me + plants usually = dead plants.

My mom says the plant is a caster bean. And that some people plant it on purpose but others don’t. Oh and parts of it are poisonous (or irritate your skin) so you might want to pull it out.

Yeah, the sweater is wicked cute! I don’t know that plant so had to go look… looks like Anotheryarn’s mom is right. And I’d definitely yank the thing if I had toddlers. Google castor bean toxicity, and you’ll find things about ricin (a chemical/biological weapon) and all sorts of other nasty stuff in it.

Oh, it’s a great picture! Good job! Well done! (the jumper ANd the baby!)
