Get Thee Behind Me, Murphy!
March 26, 2009 at 10:38 am | In yarn | 2 CommentsIn an effort to reskein two cakes of yarn for washing, I have had the following happen.
- The swift came unlocked and the half wound skein fell off onto the table.
- The second cake flew off the ballwinder onto the floor.
To rid myself of the first problem, I came up with a nice little solution.
That’s probably the smartest thing I’ve done all week. The dumbest? Well, no one’s died or fallen off the balcony, so I’m going to go with winding that second cake onto the ball winder with no added tension cutting myself with some aluminum foil. (The second smartest thing was pulling up a chair to the swift. My back thanks me.)
Nothing genius was required to fix the second problem, I just rewound the cake on the winder with some tension. I think that makes 4 times I rewound these two cakes?
I have yarn pr0n
February 27, 2009 at 9:00 am | In yarn | 3 CommentsAnd it’s really beautiful.
Oh the turquoise!
Ooh, a shot of electric green!
All the colors together equals one thing: Manos Silk blend.
All hail Turtlegirl, who can choose yarn like nobody’s business. I’m so happy I was able to help you get to the right guys to get your Vista working again.
Now if you’ll pardon me, I’ve got to find the perfect pattern for this.
Second Blogiversary Yarn Contest!
February 6, 2009 at 9:42 am | In yarn | 30 CommentsTags: contest
I woke up this morning with a desire to give away some yarn. And as it turns out, tomorrow is my second blogiversary. How fortuitous!
What am I offering?
Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Sierra.
Want it? Leave me a comment, and I’ll pick the winner using a random number generator. Oh, and please make sure you leave a way for me to contact you. Contest ends at noon CST on Thursday, February 12.
And if you are a knitter with mohair issues, a deal could be reached regarding some Koigu.
Ooh, A Package!
December 11, 2008 at 12:40 pm | In Ladybug, Pigeon, yarn | 2 CommentsOne more reason why I love our new house – a locking mail box for packages. If we get something in the mail too big for our little box, they put a key in there for one of the two locking package mail boxes. (Of course, our town/neighborhood is pretty safe and low crime. I’ve never had anything stolen off the porch, but it’s nice to not have to worry about it at all!)
You know what this is….
My yarn prize from Mason-Dixon Knitting!
Packaged so nicely.
The yarn (Ladybug’s favorite color, plain red.)
And Kay was kind enough to include a baby toy….
We all got in on the action….
Destashorama Part II

Same intro as yesterday: All yarn is from a smoke-free home, however, there are cats here and they shed. Even though they don’t play with the yarn, I’m sure it has come into contact with cat hair. If you would sneeze standing 5 feet behind me in the grocery store checkout because I have a lone cat hair on my shirt, please don’t take this yarn. All yarn has an asking price, but all prices are negotiable, especially if you take it all. All prices include shipping inside the continental United States. If you want me to ship somewhere else, I will for an additional $2. Items will ship once payment has been received. I prefer Paypal. Leave me a comment and use a valid email address PLEASE! Hunkey Dorey?
Ok, here are the goods.
Skacel Adagio, colorway Teal (06) Dyelot 102989 2 skeins. One skein was knit for a few yards, frogged, and rewound into a ball by hand. The other is in a yarn cake. Asking $18 for both.
Classic Elite Star 3 colors -
Scarlet: Color # 5158 Dyelot 1412, 2 whole skeins plus two partial balls.
Blush: Color # 5119 Dyelot 553, 1 whole skein plus one almost complete ball.
Black: Color # 5113 Dyelot 1415, 2 whole skeins.

Frabjous Fibers, Recycled Sari Silk, No colorway or dyelot. 2 skeins. Asking $15 per skein or buy both for $28.
I have a couple other items that are pending sale on Ravelry, and if those two sales fall through I’ll toss ‘em up here as well.
Destashorama part I

It’s time to clean out the closet and let some stuff go to a good home. Part I is the sock yarns.
All yarn is from a smoke-free home. There are cats living here, and even though I do not allow them to roll around in the yarn, I’m sure some cat hair has come in contact with it. All prices are negotiable, and include shipping. I take Paypal, cash, check etc, and item will ship when payment has been received. Leave a comment if you want anything.

Once I’m approved, I’ll also put these up on the Destash for Cash site.
Part II will be a mix and match of mostly worsted to bulky wool, and 3 different colors of Classic Elite Star (the cotton/elastic blend.) I just need to get pictures taken.
Today I will be positive
October 9, 2007 at 9:59 am | In yarn | 2 CommentsI’ve been complaining a lot this month, but what I really think is happening is a karmic kind of balance. Sure, there’s been some bad, but there’s been some really good stuff too.
I’m one of those people who never win anything, so when I win two contests in a row I really feel lucky. The first one was Sheri’s September Loot.
Two highly-coveted skeins of sock yarn!
Yarntini Variegated in Pumpkin Spice – destined to be Monkeys for my sister.
Wollmeise Superwash Sockenwolle in Raku-Regenbogen. I had a hard time getting all the colors in this colorway in the picture. Basically, it’s a rainbow but all the colors are muted and fall-like. I don’t normally gravitate to these colors when shopping, but I love them here!
Thanks, Sheri!
The second contest I won was Knitnzu’s Belated Blogiversary. I won more yarn and a special extra something….
Artful Yarns: Shakespeare. I haven’t done any research on it yet, but I think it’s a bulky single ply. I’m trying to decide if it’ll be soft enough for a new hat for Ladybug. What do you think, Lisa?
And the little something extra is this too cute DPN case! We have a red and white polka-dot obsession going on at the house right now because of Ladybug’s Minnie Mouse costume. I’ve already got my size 1’s in there now. Thanks Lisa, and I wish you many more happy blogiversaries!
From 90 to 54 degrees in two days, welcome Autumn
September 25, 2007 at 3:35 pm | In yarn | 1 CommentWow, I should win Sheri’s contest more often. Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by!
Ok, now, since my head is full of totally unbloggable stuff, here are some yarny pictures.
These are the fall-appropriate Koigu KPPPM colors I picked up last month.
And here they are close up.
I have no plans for them as yet. Well, except the cuddling. It was fun pulling them all out of their bag to cuddle and take pictures.
Let me introduce you to my leetle friends
September 18, 2007 at 9:47 am | In yarn | 1 CommentI haven’t felt a reason to rush to get pictures of my Koigu purchases from last month. So instead of photographing them all at the same time, I’ll do it piecemeal.
These first two skeins are single loners that were on sale. They’ll probably become toddler socks.
Koigu P330, labeled by the store as Yellow Squash. This picture is probably the easiest yarn photo I have ever taken!
Koigu P516, labeled as Forest Shadows. Yeah, I see that fuzzy ply right there.
And finally, for you and your toddler’s amusement, I present a link to the video that gave Anna the giggles over and over again for almost 20 minutes: Mission Sqwerlpossible!
