What is this?
February 9, 2009 at 10:11 am | In house, weekend wrapup | 3 CommentsA) A basic kitchen light fixture.
B) A beautiful hanging light up water fountain.
Yeah, that was a nice evening.
ETA: Ladybug was playing in the bath, and somehow (we have been unable to replicate this) splashed water in such a manner that a gush of water ran down our kitchen table light fixture (seen above in the picture. It’s directly below the bath tub). There will be caulking in our future.
Grrrrreat!
October 1, 2007 at 10:10 am | In Ladybug, weekend wrapup | 1 CommentI am so happy that football season is back!
Hubby has a certain team that he roots for; here’s a picture of my lass all dressed up for a very special game last February.
So when he asked if he could hang out at Buffalo Wild Wings yesterday afternoon to watch the game, I said sure. It was a noon game, so most of the time he would be gone would be the little lass’s nap time. We took two cars, ate lunch together, and then lass and I came home. She went down immediately for her nap.
And the rest of the time was all for me!
So now the husband socks are almost done. I just have to finish the toe. (I have mental castonitis. This drives me to finish the most easily finished thing instead of seaming up Reid.)
It’s August, and it’s hot
August 7, 2007 at 9:50 am | In me, weekend wrapup | 1 CommentSorry, things have been a little weird recently, and I just haven’t found much to say.
Would you like to hear about how my oven doesn’t work? Probably not. It’s just a pilot light that won’t light.
Or I could say that Annie is healing up nicely, and we’ve even managed to give her the antibiotics that the vet couldn’t get her to take.
I could tell you about seeing the Bourne Ultimatum, and how it’s not advised to try to watch it after having a couple of drinks. The movie is good, of course, it’s just a little bumpy to follow when you’re walking just a little crookedly.
I could also talk about my current WIP. I have decided that I don’t like picking up gusset stitches from a garter-edge heel flap. But I will soldier on, because the garter-edge heel flap is part of the whole “challenge myself” nature of these socks. They are for the Loopy Ewe Q3 quarterly challenge, you know.
I was going to take pictures of my new yarn, but the camera battery died after taking 3 very terrible pictures. I think that maybe on my next digital camera, I’ll get one that uses rechargable AA’s instead of the special rechargable battery.
Here’s something you can help me with. I’ve been trying to find the RSS feed for my knitting photos on Flickr. I put them in a set, and I am fairly sure there’s an RSS feed for the set now know there is no RSS feed for the set. I can’t find it, though. Another related question: I use the flickr uploader, and in it I can upload directly to a set. However, uploading to the set always places the picture at the end, and I would prefer that the newest pictures were the first ones in the set. Anyone got any ideas? I do know about going into the set and arranging them in my preferred order, I just wish I could get them to upload newest first.
Something looks fishy
June 18, 2007 at 2:41 pm | In knitting, pomatomus, weekend wrapup | Leave a CommentYup, you lucky readers get a picture of my in progress Pomatomus*. Don’t you feel special?
But first, you get to read about a miraculous occurrence at our house this weekend. Don’t want to? Well, just keep scrolling.
On Saturday morning I was not woken up by an unhappy toddler or an alarm clock. I was allowed to wake up completely naturally! And then I got to do the same thing on Sunday morning. Hallelujah! Did you know that you don’t need coffee in the morning if you’re well rested?
So, back to the sock. Lisa’s suggestion to purl that first instep stitch through the back leg is working beautifully.
*See this space:
This area is where my picture was going to go before I tried to turn the camera on. Apparently between this morning and this afternoon my battery died. You’ll get a picture soon, I promise!
Oh so loverly
May 21, 2007 at 11:00 am | In weekend wrapup | Leave a CommentWell, that was a lovely weekend!
We ran a garage sale on Saturday. My parents came down and sold some stuff with us, so between the 4 adults present Anna was well entertained. And hey, we made almost $100 off of stuff we never use.
I won’t get to use any of that money for new yarn or a ball winder though. Gas is $3.299 here. Both hubby and I drive vehicles that get around 28-29 MPG, but this expensive gas still eats away at the disposable income.
I did get a new zit on my chin, but those are free.
What do I have?
April 23, 2007 at 1:37 pm | In weekend wrapup | 1 CommentHey, I have two rows of a heel flap.
I have a toddler who loves her new sandbox so much that she didn’t feel the need to dig in my iris bed this weekend.
I have three new bras from K-Mart, which astoundingly had ones that fit me well enough for me to bring home. Two of them are black!
I do not have pictures of any of the above.
I have a link to a beautiful finished Reid. Right now, my Reid is glaring at the Roza’s Socks. I think she’s jealous.
I have the yarn for the crocheted edging for Reid. It is Elizabeth Lavold’s Hempathy in the deep purple colorway. Trust me, it’s much prettier in person than on the website.
I still don’t have any pictures. But I might have time after work today to take a picture of something. It might end up being a cat.
Up at 4:30 am again
April 10, 2007 at 11:43 am | In weekend wrapup | Leave a CommentDon’t worry. I’ll try to keep the crazy talk to a minimum.

Ha ha.
The weekend was nice. What I mean was that Monday was nice. I took the day off work! Even with 2 trips to the DMV, Monday was great. I know that I could never be a SAHM (money issues aside) because I would go crazier trying to amuse Anna day in and day out. But one day where I had errands to run, and the weather wasn’t below freezing (thereby allowing us a short trip to the park) is doable for me.
I love the park. Anna loves the park.
I dislike getting up at 4:30.
Alright Already!
April 2, 2007 at 9:48 am | In roza's socks, weekend wrapup | 1 CommentWhat do you do when you’ve had a crappy week?
Do you cap it all off by bending your big toenail backwards while mowing? If your answer is yes, then you know just how I feel.
This unfortunate incident was a great excuse to sit and knit. I cast on for Roza’s socks, and shock of shock, I’m doing them cuff down, just like in the pattern. It’s been a while since I’ve joined anything in the round, so it took a while to get it right. My hands really wanted to join them inside out. I’ve already made it into the brioche stitch part. I’m not sure I’m doing it right, but I do like how it’s turning out.
We’ll see if I regret the cuff-down decision when it’s time to pick up the gusset stitches.
So yes, Saturday was spent mowing and picking up the title paperwork from the car dealership. Sunday was lunch with Grandma and an hour at the park. Anna’s a little naturalist. Instead of playing on the equipment, she spent almost the entire time climbing on rocks under a tree, picking up sticks and acorn shells and trying to get covered in dirt. It was fun.
PSST: I’m totally going to make a pair of pants for a baby. This pattern is too cute! Now I just need to find a baby…..
Sproing.
March 26, 2007 at 1:25 pm | In reid, weekend wrapup | 1 CommentIt seems to be pretty common for people to post about the things that indicate that Spring has arrived. I started thinking along a traditional vein.
We have a couple of Bradford Pear trees in our back yard, and when the wind blows, the scent of the blossoms blows into my kitchen. Heavenly.
However, another sure sign of Spring is the arrival of the humidity, and what it does to our hair. Particularly, Anna’s hair.
It’s hard to get a good shot that shows just how wild her hair gets. You can’t tell that her hair is down to the middle of her back, because it just curls up and looks shoulder length. She just HATES having her hair combed. We’ve invested in some detangler spray and that helps a bit.
So this weekend happened. We had some lovely weather, so we spent a lot of time outside. I pulled some weeds in the daffodil/iris bed on Saturday, and we went to the park on Sunday. Outside time is a good thing with a 2 year old.
I’ve done one and a half repeats on Reid since I last mentioned it. Just so you know precisely where I am, I am working on the left front, and have completed a total of 4 repeats of the 16 row pattern. I’m making it in size 4, so I have to complete 6 repeats before I work on the armhole shaping. I completed the back last October.
