OMG God
April 30, 2007 at 12:55 pm | In yarn | 2 CommentsThe colorway of my dreams, right here. Does anyone know if her hand-dyed yarns spiral, or if they speckle more like Fleece Artist or Koigu?
Flawed?
April 30, 2007 at 12:32 pm | In yarn | 2 CommentsI’m just curious. How often do you run across flaws in your yarn? Flaws like loose plies, knots, or over/under-spun sections?
It happens a lot here. Most of the time I just ignore it and keep going. Do you take the time to cut the bad section out?
This is a knit blog, right?
April 27, 2007 at 9:18 am | In knitting, roza's socks, yarn | 1 CommentThere must be some knitting going on, right?
Sure. Tuesday night I spent the night at a hotel for work, and I watched a bunch of TV and knit on my second Roza’s Sock. I’m down to the foot now.
Nope, no pictures. It’s been rainy and grey and yuck.
I do have a K-Mart bra report. They’re OK. One of them does that trick where it creeps up your back while the girls slide down. The other two are better. There’s some actual lift and separation going on that they haven’t experienced in a while. However, these two bras start to hurt my ribs by late afternoon.
I can bring you some pictures of a pretty pet yarn skein.
Yarn Pirate ”Dogwood”, Merino/Tencel blend purchased from the Loopy Ewe.
This is the yarn that I mentioned in this post. It’s so pretty and soft; if the colors are going to change when I wash it, well, I’ll just never wash it!
Also, I’ve made up a little page of the future knit projects that are in my head. So there’s been some mental knitting as well as real knitting.
Purple toe
April 26, 2007 at 12:19 pm | In cats, me | 1 CommentRemember my boo-boo?
Oh dear, I just noticed that you can see my big toe hair! I’m so embarassed.
Quick, look at the cat!
I don’t know why she looks so grumpy. She’s really a very happy kitty.
What do I have?
April 23, 2007 at 1:37 pm | In weekend wrapup | 1 CommentHey, I have two rows of a heel flap.
I have a toddler who loves her new sandbox so much that she didn’t feel the need to dig in my iris bed this weekend.
I have three new bras from K-Mart, which astoundingly had ones that fit me well enough for me to bring home. Two of them are black!
I do not have pictures of any of the above.
I have a link to a beautiful finished Reid. Right now, my Reid is glaring at the Roza’s Socks. I think she’s jealous.
I have the yarn for the crocheted edging for Reid. It is Elizabeth Lavold’s Hempathy in the deep purple colorway. Trust me, it’s much prettier in person than on the website.
I still don’t have any pictures. But I might have time after work today to take a picture of something. It might end up being a cat.
Three or more things
April 20, 2007 at 9:43 am | In me | 1 CommentThing 1. Getting up at 3:30am is worse than 4:30am.
Thing 2. Sometimes filling up your gas tank at 4:30am can be amusing.
Thing 3. If you get to watch an extreme car chase while your tank is filling. I mean really, how often does one get to see the elusive driver go the wrong way on an interstate exit ramp? And then watch the same driver realize he was about to commit some form of suicide/manslaughter combo and turn off into the grass.
Thing 4. Starbucks does not open up until 5:30am.
Thing 5. They will let you wait in the drive-thru lane for at least 10 minutes, while you heroically use what little light there is to knit a k3p3 ribbed cuff.
Thing 6. Sometimes getting home in the afternoon and just collapsing into bed with a kitty on your back, closing your eyes but not really sleeping for a half hour, can be the best sort of relaxing way to end your day.
I saw a sneak-up
April 18, 2007 at 12:01 pm | In yarn | 1 CommentTee-hee. I was browsing through The Loopy Ewe 15 minutes ago when Sheri put up the sneak-up. Yarn Love, Chewy Spaghetti, and her exclusive Peppermint Mocha Claudia color. But of course, I just paid the sales tax on my new car, plus the government got a big check from us this week, so I don’t get to buy.
I got an email from one of my newer LYS’s. The subject: First Anniversary Sale! And then I open the email, and it’s 25% off all novelty yarns.
Sigh.
One down
April 17, 2007 at 9:26 am | In knitting, roza's socks, yarn | 1 CommentI know it’s a horrible picture, but it’s the best I could get. Next time I’ll remember to pull the stitches tighter at the beginning.
My thoughts on Kitchenering: actually pretty easy with the instructions right in front of you. Nothing to worry about. I used the instructions in the IK Spring 2007 issue (it also contains the pattern for Roza’s Socks.)
Just to remind y’all that I can take an occasional good picture, here’s the picture of the yarn I’m using for these socks.

Roza’s Progress
April 16, 2007 at 8:59 am | In knitting, roza's socks | 3 CommentsLast Friday I pulled out my camera and took a couple of pictures of my Roza’s sock, uploaded them to flickr, and then kept knitting. So these two pictures are a little behind the times.
The gusset. See how pretty it is? It wasn’t difficult at all, and I was so scared.
This is how far along I was on Friday afternoon. See how the color spirals slowed way down? Apparently, 2 stitches make that much of a difference. My Mom has seriously narrow feet, so I didn’t want to knit with 59 stitches around the foot. I’ve tried them on, and I think 57 made it perfect.
Right now I have one or two more rows on the toe, and then I’ll try my hand at kitchenering. How hard can it really be? *Gulp*
